SAVE was created in 1993 in order to defeat a proposed statute that would have banned anti- discrimination ordinances throughout the State of Florida. In 1998, SAVE successfully lobbied for the Miami-Dade County Commission to pass an ordinance banning discrimination based on sexual orientation. The ordinance was challenged at the ballot box in 2002. SAVE won the vote 53% to 47%.

Who I'd like to meet:
Voters, and potential voters in the 2008 election. Volunteers needed to help in fighting this amendment to Florida's state constitution (read carefully):
Inasmuch as marriage is the legal union of only one man and one woman as husband and wife, no other legal union that is treated as marriage or the substantial equivalent thereof shall be valid or recognized.
