Utterly irresistible and dazzlingly vibrant, Indiana Gregg’s debut album Woman At Work skilfully fuses infectious soulful pop with sweeping rock to create out-and-out the most refreshing sound of 2007.
Born in the bible-belt of the Midwest, Indiana Gregg’s debut album is the sound of an artist truly coming of age, with world travels and life experience fuelling her highly polished songwriting.
Now based in Glasgow, this divorced mum-of-three has a maturity and authenticity that gives rise to a strong vein of female confidence which courses through her material. From this springs a set of songs that are musically sophisticated and lyrically worldly-wise.
As a child Indiana suffered from a strong speech impediment and underwent years of speech therapy to try and overcome this condition. Music and singing emerged as Indiana’s main avenue of communication, through which she learned how to express her innermost feelings.
‘Woman At Work’ is a document of Indiana’s life, personally described by her as a ‘musical diary’. The album conveys a wide scope of human emotion, from the playful frustrations laid down in the catchy ‘Oh Me Oh My’, to the beautifully melancholic meanderings of ‘Love Is Blind’.
Her wonderfully uplifting debut single ‘Sweet Things’ has echoes of Shania Twain at her very best, as the engaging vocals of Indiana urges the listener to consider how we miss many of the good things in life, due to our focus on the material aspects of modern living.
The album title is self-revealing, a pointer towards a woman who has lived a life day-to-day, bringing up her three children and simply getting by.
Indiana says: “As I worked on these songs I started to recognise who I was and where I wanted to be. Artistically it was a kind of revelation which became the storyboard for songs on the album”.
After recording the album ‘The Hits Reloaded’ with Kool & The Gang and supporting Wet Wet Wet on tour, Indiana camped out in a studio for much of 2006, creating her first major release with Wet Wet Wet’s producer Ian Morrow. The album is funded in part by Ingenious, a new arts trust that provides financial support for talented independent artists and bands.
Indiana's single "One of Us" is earmarked for release October 8th, 2007

This is the K-box! It's my favorite new gadget. The Kbox is a small
portable speaker that can turn any surface into a loudspeaker. It works
through a patented Gel audio technology(TM)developed in Scotland.
Basically, you just plug the Kbox into your iphone, laptop, mp3 player,
TV, or even your DS Lite (any portable game unit) and then, you set the
Kbox onto a flat surface and it overtakes the surface to turn it into a
loudspeaker.
K-box has an average output of 95Db at 1m and puts
out bass at 40-20KHz. So, great sound quality coming out of a gadget
that is about the size of an iphone! Pretty cool because it means that
you can carry your digital tunes with you wherever you go and you don't
have to rely on sound coming out of your laptop or that horrible sound
that comes out of mp3 players and phones. Kbox is like being able to
take your stereo speakers with you in your pocket! The Kbox only weighs
406grams, so, it's really easy to bring it with you anywhere. Pretty
cool, eh?
Kbox is available exclusively at Kerchoonz: http://www.kerchoonz.com/kbox and retails for only £39.99 (about $60 USD). Not bad! K-box from Kerchoonz

ONE OF US:
From Helsinki to Manchester, Germany to France, and London to Glasgow; Indiana Gregg has certainly met the odd saint while on her busking tours throughout Europe. It’s not surprising that the billboard award-winning songwriter should choose such a thought provoking song as a lead single from her debut album “Woman At Work”.
“One of Us for me seems to put life into perspective. How we view others and how we view ourselves.” Indiana describes the song as ‘timeless’ and put simply “a brilliant and thought provoking song”.
The Glasgow-based singer-songwriter has spent most of 2007 touring the UK in festivals and supports slots as well as a “Home Concert” tour throughout the United Kingdom where she literally played in her fans living rooms. Her home concert tours gained her enormous media attention through spring and summer with spreads in The Daily Mirror, The Sunday Herald, The Sunday Mail, The Glasgow Herald, The Scotsman and a host of national magazines and weeklies.
“We didn’t realise that the media would be so interested in us simply playing for our fans in their homes. But it was a way for us to get out there and many of the gigs allowed us to play for between 20-50 people,” states Ms. Gregg.
Her songs touch all kinds of people, including a number of charities. One in particular, the Ovarian Cancer Group in Northern London got in touch with us which resulted in a gig at their ‘house’ which was covered extensively by press and TV. “Our intention was to get out there and play and go and see the people who have been supporting us. No big cannons or fireworks, just simple settings with real people.”
With the release of the single, a new house gig tour is to take place alongside an extensive regional radio session tour. Indiana’s critically acclaimed version of “One of Us” is already picking up airplay.
This is just a great cover of a great song. A song that speaks in a child-like language… with an adult message. So perhaps, in today’s political and social climate, provoking a bit of thought about finding hope in all of us, isn’t necessarily such a bad idea.
Indiana Gregg’s “One of Us” is available on iTunes and 7-digital and all good record stores October 8th, 2007
