About me:
This page is dedicated to the talent and legacy of two gifted musicians, Richard and Karen Carpenter. I was privileged to have promoted their music as National Director of Radio Promotion at A&M Records for many years. Meanwhile, my brother David Konjoyan, with Matt Wallace, produced the tribute album, "If I Were A Carpenter," most recently the subject of a subplot in the hit movie "Juno." Last year, on the 25th anniversary of Karen's passing, I was interviewed by the Los Angeles Times about the impending demolition of the famous Downey, CA Newville Avenue residence of Karen, Richard, and their parents, immortalized on the cover of their multi-platinum 1973 LP "Now & Then." While it would be a shame to lose a pop music landmark, we respect the rights of the current owners. What should be remembered is the music and achievements of this Grammy winning duo. This year marks the 40th Anniversary of their signing to A&M.
