Help Us Preserve Jekyll Island

''' What we are about: We wish to Preserve Jekyll and keep it affordable. We believe over development on such a small and fragile Island is a mistake. 1. Jekyll has clean beaches and houses beautiful wildlife; the endangered Loggerhead Sea Turltle is one example; 2.we do not wish for high priced, hotels, shops and condos to over crowd an island as small as Jekyll for it is a state park and should remain affordable to the people. 3. We wish to maintain it's southern charm, prestine wildlife and integrity. The problem: The board who is charged with Jekyll's care (The Jekyll Island Autherity) has given a large development company(Linger Longer) a deal to develop massive amounts of Jekyll. We do not see how this deal benefits Jekyll's wildlife, residence or visitors.Infact we believe it only benefits the wealthy and fattens the pockets of already rich developers. What you can do to help: 1) Make yourself heard go to www.savejekyll.org and sighn the online petition. 2)Spread the word. Ask your friends to do the same. 3) If you can give then do so @ www,jekyllisland.com/donate The Initutive To Protect Jekyll is regestered nonprofit. Your donation will be put toward maintaining the cause. 4) Join the mailing list for updates and be apart of the action. People are always needed to post responses online and to keep public interest on the cause.
