About me: We are a coalition dedicated to the preservation of GHI & HIP as non-profit healthcare providers. Nearly 4 million people in NY State subscribe to these plans including 500,000 NY City workers (including retirees). Since the 1940s these plans have provided quality low-cost options for working people and have served to shield New Yorkers from the worst effects of the national healthcare crisis.
Now, CEOs from the two companies have pressed NY State officials to approve their application to convert to for-profit status (privatize). Politicians in Albany and the leaders of municipal trade unions expect to reap major one-time cash payouts from the liquidation of company assets. Policy holders will be left defenseless facing a new mega-corporation intent on increasing profits through the denial of care and increased premium rates.
Who I'd like to meet: The Coalition Against Privatization welcomes all those who wish to build a democratic grassroots movement to stop the privatization. We are united by two beliefs:
1) We oppose the privatization of GHI & HIP
2) We believe that healthcare is a human right
Please email us at noprivatization@yahoo.com
Please take a look at our blog for more info concerning the privatization.
Working together we can defend our healthcare rights!
O God of Love, make us more Thankful for All the Boundless mercies of Our daily life. Forgive us that we are so often ungrateful, complaining and discontented, taking for granted Your greatest gifts: the Blessings of Health, the Comforts of Home and Family life, the Joys of Friendship, the Wonders of Your Creation. Teach us day by day to Number Our Blessings and to receive each one as from Our Father's Hand; and Fill Our Lives with Gratitude, Our Lips with Praise; for the sake of Jesus Christ Our Lord.
Join the Coalition Against Privatization in our speak-out against the budget cuts proposed by NY State Gov. David Paterson. We demand full funding for education, health care, and other social programs. We will also raise our voices against the proposed privatization of GHI & HIP. No cuts or privatizations are necessary since the entire budget deficit could be covered by a 6% tax on income above $5 million.
So, if you are affected by the cut-backs come out on Friday for a open mic speak-out in front of the governor's office.
Hey, hi from England & thanks for connecting. We hope you'll enjoy Take the Red Pill. We'd love you to register on the site and let us know what you think. Respect! Redpillboy.
