At the age of sixteen, Crissi Cochrane began performing as a solo singer/songwriter in the Halifax music scene. Influenced by her father (a campfire guitarist), she first picked up the guitar at age ten. Nine years and countless shows later, Crissi has released a five-song CD available to the public titled the Bathroom EP (as it was recorded over the course of ten hours in a bathroom on a laptop). This has sold over three hundred copies both over the internet (internationally) and at shows since its debut in December 2006, and every element of it is handmade - from the posterboard cases to the individually-collaged covers and the stencilled CD designs.
Recent shows have included performances with Ill Scarlett, Faber Drive, The Reason, The Junction, The Most Serene Republic and Ten Second Epic, and plans of maritime tours are currently on the horizon. It seems that what originally began as a side project has now become Plan A as she takes her music to a new level, sharing the stage with musicians on a weekly basis and evolving as a writer. Although only 19, great things can be expected to come from this talented and refreshing local musician.
