Just back from the High Street protest where lots of camaigners turned out to Save the Tower.

Great support from the Winchester public - in just over 2 hours we managed to get nearly 700 people to sign the petition.

The Public meeting this Thursday is vital. Hope to see you there!

The campaigning is making a difference. The County Council are concerned at the public opposition and have opened up a proper consultation. The next few weeks are crucial if we want to keep this great place open. if you have the time and the inclination - e-nail the council. Contact details are on the blog at http://savetowerarts.blogspot.com/

WE LOVE THIS VENUE!!!!

No band in their right mind will ever want to play in a side room off of a fucking library -FACT!

That is all....

We at sxsc also owe our existence to the Tower. It is beyond belief that anyone could for one second think of dispensing with such a crucial facet of Winchester's culture. Gigs in a library? What planet are we on?

great work! Although I've got a better idea - why don't we have gigs in a library (or 'learning experience center' or whatever the f*** it's called nowadays!)

Power to your elbow.

There is a distinct lack of decent gig venues in Winchester, so taking away this one would be a joke! Was host to our very first gig, and there's something about the Tower which makes us play our best.

We at Hog Towers are forever indebted to The Tower for their unswerving support of our humble publication. Indeed, it would be fair to say that without The Tower, The Hog would never have been possible.

Although a comparitively small venue, The Tower's contribution to Winchester's cultural live has always been significant and its disappearance from our increasingly bland landscape would be a sad day indeed...

The Tower supported me as an aspiring teenage musician,
providing not only rehearsal and performance space,
but also projects to work on ('Peroxide', anyone?),
and hosting some great acts to broaden my perspective...

...The Tower must be allowed to continue this essential work
for new generations of Winchester's talented youth.

All the best, Teej
