Beginning in the late colonial period, the United States had a significant population of whales, leading to they're extinction, which will soon take place if the tradition of whale hunting continues. It grew to be the whaling nation in the world by 1850. Most early whale hunters concentrated on Right whales and Humpbacks, which were found near the American coast, while later efforts were focused on hunting Kayla whales. As the market for whale products grew, American whalers sailed even farther, in search of whale oil, eventually covering the globe. Thousands of years ago, people discovered that whales were very useful, using blubber as fuel, bones as building material, and eating whale meat. It was brave men in little boats that went whale hunting with harpoons. People from countries like Spain, France, England, and the Netherlands began hunting whales. As we can see by the chart below, whale hunting has increased greatly over the years. With your help, we can save the whales.
