A Kyoto native Japanese techno/dance artist Yoshihiro Sawasaki has started his musical career in 1993 as "TECHNO THE GONG", in the concept of making the sound of French progressive band: GONG into the techno music. In 1994,his friend and one of the most famous Japanese techno artist Ken Ishii has recommended Yoshihiro to send the demo tape to R&S Records (Belgium) and it was soon released from Apollo/ R&S as a self-titled single"MeditationYS".
This debut single was highly recommended by the UK press, especially NME who did the very first review of this single.

In 1994, he has also released compilation and first album "Traveler's Light" from domestic label TRANSONIC RECORDS. hit many parties and events like "R&S NIGHT" and WHITE ROOM. And he has also world-released "Perfumed Garden" from SUBLIME RECORDS with the under the name of YS. Its 12-inch single cut was praised by NME magazine (94/11/5 issue), as "This is a funky chill out EPacross genre." and more appeared in many music magazine's review andchart. And was taken into the album "X-Mix 4" compiled by DAVE ANGEL who wasthe top DJ Artist in Britain, got more attention.

In 1996, early spring, he has joined the collaboration album by HARUOMI HOSONO and BILL ROSWELL "Interpieces Organization" as a re-mixer. This time, he remixed DRUM & BASS style played for the first time which he was deeply interested in. He has joined "RAINBOW 2000"as a one of the Japan's biggest Rave for live act and played his originated style of DRUM & BASS with "soft psychedelic taste" and made the audience enthusiastic.
Autumn in 1996, those lives bore fruit as the album "NIGHT CRUISING EP" released with the name of DOCTOR YS & COSMIC DRUNKARDS. The album was praised by many kind of magazines. says" It was the first time to see DRUM & BASS style Album in Japan."

Meanwhile, he has joined many remix & tribute works such as KENJI ENDOH tribute (he sings himself !) and TOD RUNGREN tribute, and produced remixed work for THE ASS BABOONS (The band of NAOKO NOZAWA and her husband BOB).

In 1998, He has worked as a sound producer for solo single by ASATO IZUMI who was columnist which titled "COLOMN DE IKOU" (produced by JUN MIURA).

In 1999, he has joined the album "PUNCH THE MONKEY 2" produced by YASUHARU KONISHI with the song "LUPIN THE 3rd.78 - AFRO ROCK THEME (WHAT BECOME OF LUPIN MIX)".

His activities are not only in the musical scene: he is also known as a writer, (POPYE, KEYBOARD MAGAZINE and WEEKLY ASKII etc...) Radio disc jockey, ( programed "SAWASAKI YOSHIHIRO'S TECHNO TELESTRIAL” '97 - '98 , that was variety and techno on K-MIX (FM SIZUOKA) and sometimes he appears on the TV variety show ("TAMORI CLUB", "PAPAPA PUFFY") as a multi talent.

Much more DJ shows and events hits the spots at MILK, MANIAC LOVE. His style of DJ was not only bang the people up of dancing but also plays many kinds of musics (as Japanese traditional music, rock, etc.) makes everybody burst up laughing ! His many talentive became popular DJ in everywhere in Japan.

He has joined the project member called "SPEED KING" (collaboration of Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra and Fantastic Plastic Machine) in '99.

In 2000, he has produced a chivalrous techno track "ROW HIDE" for STEVE ETOH. Ans he has published the book titled "REMIX A GO GO" (RITTOH MUSIC). The book was the first time to publish as remix manual book in the world, became remixers' bible !

"Dr. YS & The Cosmic Drunkards" was released from V2 Records Japan on November 2000. The album features many guest vocals by famous Japanese artists, such as Masumi Okada (actor), Keiichi Sokabe (vocalist of the popular band called Sunny Day Service), Seiji (vocalist of the popular band called Guitar Wolf), Yoshiro Nakamura (famous bossa nova artist), Captain Funk and lots more. Mixture of dance, techno, progressive rock, bossa nova,,, this album was supervised by the popular dance artist/DJ: Fantastic Plastic Machine (Tomoyuki Tanaka).
This well-received release has led to him being invited to perform live and DJing in such as Munchen, Berlin, Vienna, Feldkirch, and Innsbruck, Ibiza in 2001.

In 2001, he has produced many Japanese pop musician solo project such as "TOYO" by LUKE TAKAMURA ( ex-guitarist of SEIKIMA || ) and joined the live tour "A.D. 2001 PARALLEL SIDE OF SOUNDTRACK TOUR" by SUGIZO ( ex-guitarist of LUNA SEA ). In 2002, he has joined recording and produced for "ROMAN PORCHE.", which preaching unit coming up now, and offered his song.

His spirit of freedom influenced world of art. He has collaboration live of sound and paint art with NORITO NISHIMURA who is a paint artist at museum in Kouchi, Japan. He got back form DJ tour around Europe again and had session with Mr.NISHIMURA and went around German, Austria and Italy with a unique unit SHINTO live in Munich. And on May, SHINTO has come to Japan, and he has been going around Japan with them. And as a music production he has made musics of a new PlayStation2 game"Street Golfer".

In 2003, he started to organaize his DJ party "Casino" in LA FABRIQUE in Shibuya,Tokyo.and a collaboration unit "ColorCrayon" is organized ,too with the great master of commercial music and a jazz pianist, Masayuki Nakatomi.

He sometimes goes out around the world as DJ, and appears on the internet radio program titled "RADI@" and sometaimes TV, and writes columns of many magazines. His multiple talentives lead hectic schedules and goes across the globe !
