Watusi [wah – too – see] is an original Texas music band from the San Antonio, TX area that can best be defined as a rock band with a country singer. Each band member’s diverse personal music preference adds to the Watusi sound. These influences range from the classics like Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, and Waylon Jennings, to more modern musicians like Gary Allan and Pat Green, and still maintaining a diverse rock preference with the likes of anything from Kenny Wayne Sheppard, The Black Crowes, The Foo Fighters, Danzig, Slayer and even Ralph Machio in Crossroads.
The members of the band hail from Somerset, Texas and have played in several bands together throughout the years. Lee-anderthal Edwards, who simply goes by Lee, is the vocalist and lyricist, and strums the acoustic guitar on occasion. David Black is the guitarist of the group, as well as the music director and acting manager. On bass guitar we have JJ Garza, who serves as webmaster, and publicist. Marcos de la Cruz is the percussionist, with limitless capabilities and duties like monitoring the community ice chest, acquiring the party favors, and simply being the one that maintains the synergy for the group. Together these small town musicians have one goal in mind: get their music out there and have fun.
