Sawmill Creek is Wyoming's original and beloved country western music band best known for their outstanding performances of the Hauser-penned originals that have stimulated their success. Inspired by his love of the natural grandeur of the Grand Tetons, and his respect for the strong, vital character of the people from his Jackson Hole home, Bruce Hauser's compositions reflect the heart of grass roots America.
Bruce Hauser, a master of the acoustic guitar and five-string banjo, has been singing, performing, and writing original compositions since he was 14 years old and had his first band - he on guitar and a friend on drums.
Bruce Hauser founded the Sawmill Creek Band in 1973 and since that time, the Wild Western Windblown Band, as they are affectionately known (after their first album of the same name) has accumulated an impressive array of credits.
Sawmill Creek has headlined all over the globe and opened for such acts as: Sawyer Brown, Neil Young, Tanya Tucker, Glenn Campbell, Larry Gatlin, The Bellamy Brothers, Poco, Nicolette Larson, juice Newton, Hoyt Axton, Johnny Paycheck, Jerry Jeff Walker, Asleep At The Wheel, New Riders of the Purple Sage, Jodi Miller, Don WIlliams, and Tom T. Hall.
Over the years, from 1978 to 1990, the band has released six albums. In 2002, the first three albums, WILD WESTERN WINDBLOWN BAND, BARELY GETTIN' BY and WE RIDE TOGETHER were digitally remastered for CD and re-released. The official web site of THE SAWMILL CREEK BAND was launched in 2002. Bruce released his latest CD, CHANGES, in September 2005!
Oh Bruce...back in the summer of '81, when I was working at Jackson Lake Lodge...we'd ride into Jackson to dance to the Sawmill Creek Band at the Million Dollar. I can still hear Wild Western Windblown Band, Colours and Blues for Dixie. All these years later I'm artist in residence in Grand Teton National Park and I NEVER pass the Million Dollar without thinking of YOU. I hope all is wonderful!!!
Greetings, err.. 1985' drive through liquor stores on a day off from the outfitter. Two steppin with tourists and Sawmill Creek at Cassie's, Cody. Poor but young, funnest times in my life. Thanks for being an ingredient in the cowboy recipe. You have plenty of fans who lived under a felt hat, wall tents and remote shacks
Hey Bruce - I grew up in Casper listening to Sawmill Creek music on old LP's. My parents used to go watch you at the Beacon Club when I was just a kid. Now I have Sawmill Creek on my iPod, and it always makes me smile and think of Wyoming, best place on earth. Would love to see you perform again some time. Thanks for the memories!
