So far.... just me, Aurelius DeMarco. I'm a freelance saxophone stylist, or at least on the path of becomin one. Other than this project, I'm in 3 bands; Soul Rebels 420 (Funk/Hip-Hop), FuMonGoni (Ambient Vibe), and The Velvet Jones Project (Blues/Funk/Soul) and I do cameos for different bands on and off randomly. I'm also in the process of producing and composing an original Jazz Fusion album...it's coming along, will see how it works out.

Sounds Like
Some people tell me I sound like John Coltrane, which is an insane compliment to receive because I'm not quite up to his level just yet. I guess I see why though...I like the slow jazz ballad style that's similar to how he played. Some other people have mentioned that I sound like Grover Washington Jr...which I guess is a great compliment because I've never really listened to him at all! Coincidence?
When I was 3 years old my mom bought me a plastic wind instrument set that came with a trumpet, clarinet, and saxaphone. I thought the sax looked the coolest (I was 3), and it became my favorite toy that made noise. I don't know how well I played it, but since then everytime I saw a saxaphone in real life, I was mesmerized by it's look and sound. As long as I can remember I always wanted to play sax after that. I got my chance when I was 11 years old after I finished the sixth grade. I learned on a horn that by all means wasn't easy to play. When I almost gave up because I thought I sucked, my private teacher let me play his sax, and I sounded better than I did on the horn he had me using. When I asked why, he told me that if I could play and get a good sound out of that horn, then I could play any horn and be fine. I played in my high school Marching, Jazz, and Concert Bands. Though during my first two years of high school I was last chair, by my third year I was first chair and playing solos in Concert Band performances and Competitions. It's been a long journey that is still going, because I still have a lot to learn. I've been fortunate in the last few years to be able to play with such talented musicians as I have, musicians who are better than I am, and challenge me to rise to their level so I can compliment the ensembe more effectively. I have many mentors that I learn from, unbeknowngst to them. Sometimes I feel I may ask them too many questions, but they always reassure me in the end, saying that all it takes, "is practice, practice, practice....and time." So I'd like to thank all of my inspirations and mentors for taking the time to constructively criticize me as they have and still contiue to do. May time and practice take me to where I endeavor to be musically.
