Born and raised in
Chicago
, Rick Parma, at just 28 years old has exploded with his first solo album
release “Just Getting Started”. With superb tone and fierce playing style,
Rick has taken smooth jazz crowds by surprise. Rick has a passion for many
genres, from hip hop, Funk, R&B, rock, Latin & blues, and he blends them
beautifully with smooth jazz.
Interested in the sax since he was 9 years old, Rick grew up listening to R
& B and rock. He picked up his love of sax by noticing how powerfully it
stands out in the band. And though
he suffered with asthma as a child, he states that playing the sax has helped
him to develop his lung s more fully and hasn’t had any problems with asthma
since. Rick has been performing all over the
Chicago
area in venues such as Grant Park, The Back Room, Jazz Central Station, Chicago
Legends and at WNUA’s Live Sunday Brunch.Along with his own shows, Rick performs with a variety of different local
groups and is now one of the most sought after sax players in
Chicago
. From session work, to live performances to solo projects, he brings an
incredible energy that audiences respond well to.

On
Stage
Rick
has a rare stage presence that makes him a true performer. He knows how to move
the crowd and get them hooked into groove he creates.Rick has appeared with or opened for such artists as Steve Cole & Ray
Silkman at “A Night of Smooth Jazz” in Chicago. He also performs regularly
with Brian Lubeck, which will took him to Mexico for some shows during the
spring of 2008. Locally, you can
find Rick and his group performing at Hotel Sax at the House of Blues every week
and at The Backroom 4-5 times a months or at the Close Up 2.
