Multi-Style, Multi-Format Original Electronic Music "We like things that make us groove and contain complicated descriptors formed from several words... sometimes that can range from mellower sounds like Dark Electro Jazz, Downtempo Big Beat, and even Dubby Trip-Hop to heavier sounds like Drum-n-Bass, World-Breaks, and even sometimes Deep Electro House, believe it or not."
Electronic Music With A Heartbeat

History In 2002, Producer/Keyboardist Asher Fulero and Turntablist/Graphic Artist Joel Barber began experiments using live looping and masses of gear to improvise 'songs' on the fly. After a batch of local art gallery and opening shows, they landed a six-month residency at SE Portland's legendary musical living room, The Goodfoot. Recordings from these shows provided the material for their first album, Realtime Modify(2003), which drew attention for it's jazzy downtempo feel and entirely improvised process.
Performances in 2003-05 included High Sierra Music Festival, MusicFestNW (NXNW), opening sets for Jacob Fred Jazz Oddessey, Galactic, Signal Path, a short residency at Portland's famed Om nightclub, and much more. Their sound evolved over this time, as they introduced more solid musical concepts and began to use their laptops to create song elements in advance for manipulating onstage.
Released digitally in Feb. 2006 with the help of exclusive Bay Area web distributors Reapandsow.com, the band's second album, Dual Processor (2006) is available at all major download outlets including iTunes, Rhapsody, Amazon, SnoCap, and many more. Never having been 'printed', a digital 'booklet' containing 14 collaborative art pieces by Barber and Seattle artist Natalie Oswald as well as album information is available for free through the bands website. Musically directed by Fulero, the first half of the album is comprised of smart studio pieces arranged via creative studio sessions that represent the band's first 'studio' tracks; the second half is recorded entirely live from two shows at the peak of the band's live-looping, pre-laptop phase.
The album earned a full-page feature spread in Re:Up Magazine, describing the band's very interesting writing process and it's embracing of modern distribution methods. Between 2006 and 2007 SBN opened two shows for industry heavies Sound Tribe Sector Nine, were invited to be part of the 'Innovators Of Our Time' series at L.A.'s Walt Disney Concert Hall (where they were featured alongside tabla innovator Karsh Kale and musical extremist That One Guy), and shared a NW run with NY drummer extraordinaire Bobby Previte and The Coalition of The Willing.
After a relatively long break, SBN is excited to be returning in 2008 with a brand new studio album that represents a major evolution in their sound, created carefully over the course of 2 years. Look for our announcements in the coming months, we're very enthused about this very nearly completed full length album...

People say "I want peace."
If you remove I (ego), and your want (desire), you are left with peace.
