Refreshing…
That’s what comes to mind when you first listen to a Sbudapardo track.
Like many of his predecessors who held the mic before him, this Zola native brings across the unique kasi flair in his flow.
“I started this rhyming thing I 2002 where I did the rounds at sessions like eSlaghuis, Dungeon Shack and others ekasi,” says Sbuda P (as he prefers to be known on the streets).
Already at that young age, Sbuda P extinguished mediocre emcees in ciphers. Dropping hard hitting lyrics and punchlines in vernacular, he’s stays true to his kasi roots, keeping it real all the time. A true hustler, Sbuda P didn’t just land his record deal with Serius Entertainment. He worked hard to establish his street cred. He’s been featured on several mixtapes including Street Vocab, House of Hip Hop and the Slaghuis Mixtape working alongside some of Soweto’s Hip Hop elite. It’s not surprising that when his mixtape titled ‘Movies’ landed on Spex’s pile of demos back in 2006, he got signed.
“We were impressed by his flawless delivery, tight lyrics and most importantly, the deep emotion that his voice carries. It makes him stand out from the crowd,” smiles Spex when he speaks of the latest protégé to join Serius Entertainment.
Focussing solely on his future and the release of his up coming album, this young emcee displays a high level of maturity, determination and discipline. At 20 he realises that opportunities are abundant, they just need to be exploited to the fullest.
“Yeah I’m a head and I gotta use this music to uplift my boys ekasi but I also gotta pay the bills. The album is just the beginning of building the Sbuda P brand,” he says confidently.
Not just a versatile lyricist, Sbuda P is well on his way to becoming a household Hip Hop name – yes my people the game has been officially revitalised.
