I've been building tiki bars, huts and furniture for many years. I first encountered a tiki bar when I got married in Jamaica. I looked at this thing in awe. Being a carpenter by trade I thought to myself, heck, I NEED to build one of these. The relaxing tropical atmosphere this tiki bar created was one I needed every day!
I came home a week later and I quickly found out that no one was willing to help me. Everyone wanted to sell me "their" bar. If they couldn't make all the money building me one, well- "good luck to ya," they said.
When I told people I want to do it myself they kind of turned the other cheek. I had to figure everything out myself. It took years of searching for suppliers, getting connections and learning the hard way to be where I'm at now.
