To Release isn't to forget, not to think about, or ignore.
It doesn't leave feelings of anger, jealousy, or regret.
It's not about pride and it's not obsessing or dwelling on the past.
It's not about giving in or giving up.
To let go is to cherish the memories, but to overcome and move on.
Letting go is learning and experiencing and growing.
To release is to be thankful for the experiences that made you laugh,
made you cry, and made you grow.
It's about all that you have, all that you had, and all that you will soon gain.
Letting go is releasing and having the courage to accept change, and the strength to keep moving.
It is realizing that the heart can sometimes be the most potent remedy.
To let go is to open a door, and to clear a path and set yourself free---

Scandimaniacs, remember that it's easy to let go when holding on
hurts so bad--so free yourself from all these expectations and just be :-)
Hope you find the unity in my new single "Release" feat. JRockA.

Stay creative and stay connected!! Hope all is utmost blessed and irie to da fullest :-) Your friendship and love is greatly appreciated.

ONEness;
Sarai

Clever, ironic, passionate and with a hint of indescribable genius, Scandimanics will make you feel like a fly caught in a spider web, only for them to advance in for the kill and at the last minute pull out an ice cream to give to you instead.

FRINGEREVIEW.CO.UK

In their new show, Take Me To Hollywood, Emil Lager and Sara Lewerth manage to skate across the surface of two very different planes; on the one hand they are beautiful statuesque playmates, beckoning to you to come and join them in their childish walks of fantasy, on the other they are alert predators ready at any moment to pounce and devour you whole. It is as though two assassins have entered Eurovision and whilst this makes for a slightly unsettling evening, it also means that you are completely at the mercy of these undeniably compelling performers in an event which defies anything predictable to remain throughout a veritable feast of surprise.

They helter skelter through an eclectic mix of songs including a sexy number about stupid politicians, a promiscuous love ballad inspired by Ingmar Bergman and a wonderfully make shift parody of that cheesiest of all Celine Dion songs 'I will go on' utilising a small plastic boat and a lot of very silly and impressive improvisation. They delight in trying to trip each other up as they play off one another with glee in a relationship which rather resembles that of two very virtuoso monkey siblings; 'come and play with us' they demand quite forcefully, but only so that no one feels left out you understand.

For all this energetic clowning, there is strangely a lot of silence in this piece, in the middle of the whirlwind Lager and Lewerth are confident just to look and wait when they want to, piercing gazes questioning just before they leap once again into entertaining action. This is one indicator of the razor sharp focus which cuts through their performance with an intense poise and particularity meaning that however made up on the spot some of this show is it is never messy; this fierce control reassures us into following them down into their anarchic rabbit hole and emerge safely on the other side however off kilter we may feel on the way.

Clever, ironic

THE SCANDIMANIACS

28 May 2009

Michael Holland

I've not been to the Blue Elephant Theatre for quite some time so it was good to go back.

There is a nice, roomy bar area that usually has some current artwork to enjoy and - most importantly - an excellent theatre space. I've not been for a while as the theatre has been predominantly presenting productions with short runs and I don't want to review something that is the best show in town only to have to tell readers not to miss it a week after it has gone!

But now there is a show with a longer run that I was much intrigued to see: Take Me To Hollywood, performed by Scandimaniacs, a Swedish duo made up of Emil Lager and Sara Lewerth.

The press release said it was 'cabaret, music, improvisation, absurd, pretentious…' How could I not be intrigued? The press release also said 'it's very hard to describe.'

Take Me To Hollywood is a cheesy spoof parody of rock stardom and fame. They send themselves up while taking swipes at all the big names of showbiz. It is a spectacle of music, dance and drama as we are led through the career and back catalogue of Scandimaniacs - The second best band in the world.

Emil Lager looks like what you would get if you put Johnny Depp and Leo Di Caprio into the Large Hadron Collider and smashed them into each other at the speed of light. Sara Lewerth has her own allure; Swedish and blonde for a start. But these are more than mere treats for the eye, he is an excellent guitarist and she can sing, and both have a terrific sense of comic timing.

They reference some of the greats as personal and musical influences: Johhny Cash, Bob Dylan, Thierry Henry. There is a brilliant piece on the French and a great send up of Titanic where they got the crowd involved in making waves. There are songs with a message, political songs, hip hop with an invisible rapper, rock and roll and all
performed with tongues wedged
