Books
It's sad that 99% of the time, I'll forget the name of a really awesome book less than a week after reading it. I'm horrible at remember titles. One that does stand out is The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown. I finished that book in just a few days; it was very intriguing - and a lot better than the movie. Another great book was Sundays at Tiffany's by James Patterson. I read the entire book in one day. I also enjoyed his book, Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas. James Patterson has wrote many books I've read and enjoyed! Other favorite authoers include Dean Koontz, Robert Crais, Mary Higgins Clark, Jonathan Kellerman, Patricia Cornwell, Janet Evanovich (Stephanie Plum series), Sue Grafton, John Saul, John Sanford, and Stuart Woods. I also love looking through cookbooks and cooking magazines.
Heroes
My mom and dad! They are everything to me, and I love them more than I can ever say! They have set great examples for me, and I look up to both as role models. I envy their wonderful life together as they approach their 34th wedding anniversary. I hope to have that type of relationship with someone one day. They seldom fuss or argue about anything and love each other dearly.
About me:
I'm 30 years old and it seems life is flying by so fast. There are still so many things I’d love to see, do, and experience – and that’s exactly what I intend to do. I love living life to the fullest – which is something I’m guilty of not always doing. I get too wrapped up in things I can’t control in my life, and I just have to learn to let go; there are more important things to focus on. I just want this one life I have to be filled with lots of happy moments and memories!
I live in Birmingham, AL with my boyfriend, Shish (obviously not his real name). We’ve been dating since December 2003 and have 3 cats - Marble, Targét, and Jasmine. We started pumpthatpedal.com in August 2004 as a small hobby, and it grew well beyond our expectations – so much so that I pursued it as my full-time job in July 2006. It pays well, taking care of all the bills to the point we don’t have to watch what we spend too closely. In 2006, I launched desiresbyscarlet.com which covers a wide variety of fetishes (includes shoes, boots, feet, smoking, eating, crushing, and more). Lately, it seems my interest in fetish work has declined somewhat. It’s probably because of some of the people I’ve had to deal with, the fact that I’ve gained some weight and don’t want to be on camera as much, and the fact that it interferes/intrudes a great deal into mine and Shish’s relationship. Rest assured though, PTP & DBS aren’t going anyway!
I am currently enrolled in culinary school. Summer 2007 was my first quarter, and I have already received my Associate's degree for Pastry, Baking, and Confectionery Arts as of December 2008. I re-enrolled in January 2009 and am now pursuing the Associate's in Culinary Arts. I'll be finished with that degree in September 2009, and in January 2010, I will start working on my business degree at a local university. My goal is to open my own bakery café and offer catering services and specialty cakes.
As for right now, I’m trying to get experience in the industry. From Jan 09 - Jun 09, I worked part-time as a pastry chef at a local candy store/bakery. I just accepted a new full-time job as a pastry chef for a new restaurant opening the beginning of July. I start on June 22nd. The executive chef is a former chef instructor at the culinary school I attended, and I'm excited about having the opportunity to work with and learn from him since I never had the chance to have him as an instructor.
When I’m not doing something for PTP, DBS, work, or school, I enjoy doing several things; one of them is reading. It’s usually some type of cookbook, cooking magazine, or a book by one of my favorite authors: James Patterson, Janet Evanovich, John Saul, Johnathan Kellerman, Sue Grafton, John Sanford, and Dean Koontz - just to name a few. I maintain the plants I have on my patio, and I find that very relaxing. Let’s just hope I don’t kill any this summer! Just recently, I’ve gotten back into the whole scrapbooking thing and enjoy the opportunity to be creative in the pages I make. Scrapbooking is very fitting for me because I’m a very sentimental person. I also enjoy visiting friends or having them over for drinks, dinner, and idle banter.
