Vin (aka) "Crash" | | Influences | The bands main influence is Jesus Christ - God's only begotten Son. In 1987-1991 Christian music was just starting to gain momentum. Heavy metal was at it's climax and Christian metal was just catching on. Scarlet Rayne took up the call to deliver the good news of Jesus Christ through their style of progressive metal that was rarely found in the Midwest. Though Scarlet Rayne never became popular that was never really the objective of the band. It was their goal to glorify the name of Jesus even when it was unpopular to do so. Like when they were invited to play clubs or venues where no Christian witnesses would dare enter to bring the light of Jesus Christ into a dark world. They also had the chance to play shows with some of their favorite Christian bands at the time in some really good venues where they had a great time performing with bands such as: Whitecross, Deliverance, Barren Cross, Believer, Vengeance Rising, Sacred Warrior etc.
Scarlet Rayne left only one full length CD to the world but the simple message of the gospel of Jesus Christ is clearly spoken to generations who still struggle with the fight of sin in their lives through drugs, alcohol abuse, and sexual sin. The lyrics also deal with issues such as loss of friends, fear, hope beyond death, dealing with the world system (which keeps getting worse) and their is even some light hearted lyrics in the song midnight excursion. | | Sounds Like | Queensryche, Helloween, Iron Maiden, a little old school Metalica just for fun. | | Record Label | Die Happy Records | | Type of Label | Indie |

Scarlet Rayne began in 1987 by Danyl Johnston. Members included Danyl J, Kyle David, Vin (aka)Crash. Former members included Matthew Johnston who preceded Vin on drums. Scarlet Rayne broke up in 1991 and was reformed for a short time as Sol Scape. Since the break up their has been an ongoing interest in the band and its history. This page was assembled as a way to help fans to keep in touch with the former members and with each other.
