Scarlet Tears, made up of old school friends and a straggler picked up on the way have been through many changes since their conception. The current (and hopefully final) amalgamation brings together many different genres, from Metal to Punk, from each individual member to which the Tears attribute their unique sound. David Marshall, Rob Thornham, Ross Welham, James 'Fletch' Fletcher and Seb Sanghera make up the band.
Our style
"We'll do anything as long as it sounds good" is the current motto of the band, who dabble with metal sounds akin to bands such as Metallica, but at the same time can change the tone of a show by rinsing out softer, more melodic tunes. Each band member has their own 'feel' which they bring to writing and performing songs. We all believe that variation is the key to putting on a good show, there's no point standing on a stage for an hour and a half playing songs that are indistinguishable from one another.
The Joe EP
The current EP, recorded at the Pig Hut studios near York is experimental in a way as it is the first EP to use multi-tracked harmonies. There were a few on the Paralyse EP, but this time it's getting a bit more serious as they grow as a band. The lyrics to Joe were written as a joke initially, and when Dave gave them to Rob he thought nothing of it, however the joke song soon became a favourite in the band, and is a killer sing-along when played live. Superbitch is a tribute to the feelings you get when you've just been dumped. This is reflected in the punk edge and the harsh lyrics! 17:50, a guns n' roses esq power ballad is another favourite live. It was the first song Dave had the pleasure of writing lyrics for. The reason it's called 17:50 by the way, is because the original jam from which it was created produced a track nearly 18 minutes long! Finally; California dreaming, a cover of the mamas and papas favourite, revisited for a second time.

The future
The main aim of the band is to spread our music throughout the world. In the short term though, we're on a quest to be signed to a recording contract with a major label.
