Scatterbrain...An Art Installation Group Contemplating Issues, Getting Angered, Creating Art To Make YOU Aware Posted at 4:50 PM Jul 26, 2007 view more
We are an Art Installation Group from Cincinnati, Ohio that has been in existence since January 2003 ... Our Goal is in Creating Installations that Make People Think. Members of our gang of five are Bekka Sage, Elizabeth Otten, Suzanne Kehr, Kristin Rose, and Mallory Feltz. All members are graduates of University of Cincinnati's D.A.A.P. Fine Art Program.
We work in a wide array of conceptual ideas, mediums and materials from Metal, wood, video/film, performance, TO.... Jello was used in an installation... 120 pounds of it.----
As an installation collective, scatterbrain is a direct response to the socio-political and cultural climate we create in. We are comprised of only women artists, however, our art isn't limited only to women issues. Our installations are an invitation to a greater awareness of issues the viewer might not have faced in his or her experience, thus feeling inspired to take action against polemic issues that effect our lives. Some of the topics we have broached in our creative journey include militarism, capitalism, transportation, feminist concerns, and the reclamation of innocence. As a natural progression of our philosophy, we intend to expand our art from the gallery to the lives and spaces we feel would benefit most our created environments.
If you would like to see more of our work click the link that says "VIEW MORE PICS"...there is some there. We are here to Network with this creative artistic community and make the occasional friends. If we don't know you and asked you to be our friend it is to try to make a connection with other artists like ourselves. If you know anyone that would like us, please forward us on. If there are any 'Call for Artists' entries people think we may be good for, please let us know.
Since we had one poor guy try to ask us out like we were a single person....Here is the disclaimer...We are FIVE different women, not one. We are all different ages and vary in status of relationships. Due to the stupid form we had to pick something.... Video documentation of a performance piece by my friend Nate Kassel who rode around on his bike slapping high-fives to people who were trying to hail taxi cabs in NYC. Enjoy!
