"Scatteredtrees knows beauty when they see it and aren't afraid to crank out a dozen songs on the subject" - Time Out Chicago
"Scatteredtrees and their song 'Sparrow' makes the biggest impression...the band takes the wrenching feeling of emptiness and turns it into something beautiful" - The Stypod
Scatteredtrees began in September of 2003, when Nathan Eiesland (vocals and guitar) moved to Illinois from Minnesota and endeavored to write one song a month — no more, no less. He named each song for the month it was written: "February", "March", "April", et cetera. Nathan returned to Minnesota in June of 2004 to record the “Hollohills” album in Minneapolis.
When he moved back to Illinois the subsequent fall, he began writing a follow-up. Soon he had enough material, but wanted his next effort to include a permanent band. He enlisted Ryne Estwing (bass and vocals) and Justin Eisenbraun (guitar), both from Chicago.
Returning to Minneapolis in October of 2005, the three recorded “Song For My Grandfather”. With two albums under their belt, Scatteredtrees needed only find a permanent drummer. They added their longtime colleague Baron Harper, also from Chicago. After years of collaboration in the studio, Minnesota native Alissa Eiesland joined the group adding vocals, piano, and synthesizer in 2007. Nathan and Alissa have since permanently moved to Illinois. The five-piece signed with 4AM Records in 2007 and recorded the "Heart of Glass" EP at Engine Studios in Chicago. In 2008, Scatteredtrees completed their collaboration with 4AM Records and is now independent.
Scatteredtrees is featured on the Starbucks Entertainment release "Off the Clock, Vol. 1" which debuted on the Billboard Top 200 and has sold over 30,000 copies. "Off the Clock, Vol. 1" was mentioned in USA Today, Harp Magazine, Entertainment Weekly, Paste, CMJ, and was featured in OK Magazine. The band has been featured on Chicago Public Radio and among 200 other radio stations nationally. They most recently performed at the 2008 SXSW Festival in Austin, TX.

Hey! So i just wanted you guys to know that i am super super excited about the concert in minneapolis this saturday. i've been waiting to see you guys in concert because you are one of my favorite bands! I can't wait and i hope you're doing well.
Thanks for finding my music and for the request. I really appreciate it, and I am glad that you are enjoying the songs. Your compliment means a great deal to me, and I thank you.
I really like the feel of "You Said You'd Wait." The other songs as well, for that matter. I see that we have a mutual appreciation for the music of Horse In The Sea, and I am honored to share your ears with a great band like them.
So, I am working mostly right now on recording the first album for the other band that I share with my wife called “The Woodlands.” You might like those songs as well [myspace. com/thewoodlandsmusic]. Anyway, thanks for your music. Cheers.
Thanks for your friendship! Please send us any music or other entertainment that you would like to see featured on the RED BANANA, and keep checking back to our webzine for updates!!!
