The Scharff Brothers have been around the block - got lost, asked for directions, got back in the van, got lost again, showed up late for the show, in the snow, up hill both ways - and still somehow seem to have way more fun than any non-famous, non-rich, non-smoking people should be allowed to have. Seeing their show is sort of like hanging out with that cool Professor you had in college, not the creepy one , but the one who wore jeans and listened to Elvis Costello and Nirvana. You could never tell how old he was (25...45?), he seemed to know tons of interesting facts about stuff you didn't really care about, but still after you talked with him you always walked away with a smile on your face. Seeing a Scharff Brothers show is kind of like that... if your Professor had a brother just like him who played guitar and they did gigs...yeah that is pretty much it. That is a Scharff Brothers show. If you have ever seen one, you know what I am talking about, if you have not...go next time you have the chance!-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Scharff brothers are now back after about a 3 year absence...some of which involved politics and the CIA and other weirdness. Though it was finally determined it was not us in the grassy knoll so we were free to go...------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Somewhere between the luscious chord play of the Beatles, and the humor of the Barenaked Ladies, you will find The Scharff Brothers, a full fledged alt/pop/rock-n-roll world wrapped in the skin of a couple of brothers with guitars.
After having appeared on the nationally syndicated Donny and Marie show in 1999, the Brothers released a 6 song EP including the song “Scary (Christopher Walken)”. In August of 2001 that song was included on the “A Low Watt Document” compilation from Atlanta-based Shut Eye Records and has received hefty spins on college radio throughout the US and Canada. MTV and the WB have also licensed a version of “Scary”, recorded by their co-writing friend Heidi Stone, in 2003 and 2004.
The brothers have played for crowds of over 2500 people and regularly fill clubs from Portland to Boston to New York to Philadelphia. They currently have an artist endorsement deal with
Godin Guitars.
Known for insightful/quirky songwriting with catchy groove-based arrangements, their live shows have been hailed by many as a "must see", and have gained them a very loyal following along the East Coast. With tight musical interplay and comical, non-sequitur between-song chats, a Scharff Brothers concert is an event, not just another show.
Hey, thanks for the comment about a month ago, I just got around to reading it. The funniest thing about "the Brick House" web page is google partly bases it's ranking on how many people link to your page, of which we have many, so... For about a year when people searched for "the Brick House, Dover" our page came up first on the search results. Now their page has "grown up" and gets it's own ranking, hopefully they have too. Keep rocking! with dignity!
