A successful surgeon and Assistant Professor of Medicine at UCLA, Peter Schick learned in 1986 that while performing an operation, he had become infected with the HIV virus. Then, HIV infection was a death sentence; Peter Schick has battled back and is a long time survivor for over 20 years! In 2003, he established the Peter Schick Foundation to provide education for all people regarding HIV / AIDS, assist HIV positive people to live longer, healthier lives and research the protocols of early treatment of HIV.
Through the foundation that bears his name, Peter Schick reaches out to other HIV survivors so that they know they are not alone.
