SCHMAND THE BAND

the SCHMAND is a punk-band from ravensburg and friedrichshafen, which both is located in the deepest south of germany.
all of the SCHMAND musicians played in a couple of bands before.
the SCHMAND has two demos out .
the SCHMAND loves to play live!
without being a part of any scene-hype the SCHMAND is giving a shit!

being the greatest band ever to exist, the history of SCHMAND has begun in the year of 2002 as a two person project, to compensate the musical range of influences that left being unrealised within the founding members current hardcore band THE LAST ORDER.

after two years of songwriting, Simon Riedel and Andreas Gessler recorded a demo in 2004, that has been self released and passed away to friends for free.
soon Bjoern Schade - a close friend and bandmate in a stoner/sludge band called DESIATO - was forced to take over the bassplayer duties. since all of the other bands the three were included broke up, they decided to work on new SCHMAND songs on a more constantly and serious basis.
the first couple of live appearances were already made as a three-piece, when PaTrieb - former vocalist for BLINDSPOT AD - was asked for doing the vocals in SCHMAND.

being openminded, for nearly every subgenre within the hardcorepunk movement, is responsible for keeping the SCHMAND sound diverse and challenging.
both the music and the lyrix are delivered with talent and integrity - think of a musical range inspirated and influenced by bands like Converge, Botch, Discordance Axis, Zann, Eye Hate God, Keelhaul, American Heritage, Pig Destroyer, Mastodon...

in september 2007 USELESS Rec. released a second edition of 400 copies of the 2004 demo and also a second demo was released by USELESS in january 2008 of which 350 copies were sold until the end of 2008 ...

currently the SCHMAND entered the DAYA-RECORDINGS studio located in the middle of the black forest / southern germany to record 12 songs...
two of them (something like 2 min short) appear on a "Slap-A-Ham Tribute" Compilation LP...
another two of them will be released on the SCHMAND / GEEZERS - split 7" and the other 8 songs will hopefully be released as our firtst full length record...
without any doubt you gonna wittness the most challenging stuff the SCHMAND had created until now...
at least it's the opinion of three of the four...

even more than to compose new songs, or record new stuff - the SCHMAND loves to play live...
it' does not matter if it's in front of 100 or 5 people, or it's in your living room or a club...
