Schooldrivers started between 1998 and 1999. Located in Jerez (South of Spain) we started covering songs from bands we liked then, like Nirvana, Nofx, Pennywise, Millencolin, Bad Religion...
It was in January 1999 when we played our first show, for a local competition. Two months later, our first demo was recorded. 7 melodic hardcore songs that started giving us experience and making us realize many important things. This demo also gave us the opportunity of starting to play in many other places in town and around the province.
The demo was followed by 3 other ones in which you could appreciate our evolution. We continued playing around the province and also visited other provinces nearby.
Between 2001 and 2002 we were forced to take a brake caused by Willy's illness. Luckily for everyone, he got over it very well and also very fast! In the summer of 2002, we got back on stage, taking part in that local competition again although this time, we won a prize that gave us the opportunity to play in the "Esparrago Rock Festival"�. 2002 was a good year; we had the honor of supporting a band like Propagandhi in our town, we toured a few cities around Spain and after this, in 2003, we toured Portugal with our Friends Aside.
In 2003 we decided it was time to start thinking about recording our first album. At the same time, Willy started getting involved in recording. He improved his technique very fast, and by the time we were ready, he had already built his own home studio, so we decided, "What the hell! Let's produce our first album ourselves, we will have unlimited time and besides, who will know better than us what we want. By the way, it will be much cheaper as well". So after recording a few demos preparing the album, we started recording it in July 2004. It took us almost two months to do the recording and mixing.
Fragmet music record label offered to release our album through them, so we accepted, with the bad luck that we had to wait for 9 months till the record was released due to serious financial problems of the label.
So, almost two years have gone by since we decided to record our album until it was finally released. This means that during this time, we have experienced many changes in our music tastes; right now we are listening to other bands like Muse, Radiohead, Coldplay, Bloc party, Hellacopters, Standstill...So of course, our new compositions will be quite different from what you are listening to here. However, we are looking forward to promoting our record all around Spain and probably around Europe. At this time, the record has only been presented in Italy, country that we visited last May 2005.
Apart from our first album, we have also been included in many compilations all around Spain, The Us and Poland.
