Sherree Keyana	Jun 3 2007 8:19 AM Over 3,000 troops could have been saving lives in Darfur--but they died fighting in Iraq--I was just thinking is there going to be a draft?? Please check this out-- Honestly, we won't know until it is upon us. But remember this, Bush has invested in just over 160,000 combat troops in Iraq alone, and at this point in the war we are loosing nearly 10 troops a day (whats' reported). Remember that its not even summer yet. They Army and the Marines have stated that they are running out of men due to kills and injuries from battle and need more recruits. The problem is the recruiting levels are not being met and furthermore the Army and Marines are lowering there entry standards and or offering citizenship to illegal aliens who can read and write and comprehend english at some functional level. Provided that recruitment levels are not being met the Army and Marines are not growing, they are shrinking. Additionally, those West Point graduates are not re-enlisitng after their 5 year commitment ...these guys are junior officers and above, the "leadership" of the military...and there flight from the service at the current rate will contribute to a leadership crisis in the military. Therefore at some point, under this current policy and anything short of an all out pull from Iraq, will surely force a draft in this country! The current war in Iraq is a gurrilla war that has an illusive goal, at best, can not be won in the sense of "victory" as we know it! Victory will now have to depend on the will of the Iraq people to get there country back to a sense of peace and stability. Anything outside of that is futile and will cost us dearly in so many respects...just look at who we are not friends with or I should say "tight" with: Iran, China, N. Korea, Russia, Syria, just to mention the major ones. The bottom line the Army and Marines have to get bigger, one way or another, either now or later... Devereaux-Temple Alumni; Villanov
