turning, twisting, forwards, backwards, up, down, left, right, strange places, different faces, strange faces, different places, questions, answers, gravity, bus journeys, carting heavy goods for miles, your voice, her voice, the voice coming from the person stood behind us, intelligence, the opposite of intelligence, making passssssssssshhhhhhhhhionate love, antiques, tremendousity, reluctance, life down the ladder, vitality up the elevator, big dippers.

'Plymouths Scientist The Orange Pip continue on their quest to bleed their post-rock angles and jangles into as many cracks and avenues as possible with the release of new download single 'Deplore The Door'. Maybe not as immediate as last years 'Horresco Referens', both songs here - 'Absence is Bliss' and 'La Foret De Sevres' - are still a gentle riot of too-many-great-ideas tripping over themselves, traversing from Pavement-esque melancholy to polite math-pop and back again at leisure, with enough melodies to appease the pop orthodoxy. It's not for nothing that 247 have consistently tipped The Orange Pip for great things, and with the likes of Steve Lamacq and Huw Stephens singing the band's praises, it looks like their hard work and honed talent is paying off.

'From the staccato opening chops of 'Bike Love Love Me' to the beautifully uplifting pop of 'Proof of Propensity' it's clear that Plymouth's Scientist The Orange Pip are a cut above the rest.
With a musical wit and intelligence that current indie bands like The Wombats and Pigeon Detectives can only dream of, this is glorious, intelligent and experimental emo-pop at it's very best!' - GO2 Magazine
'Putting the mental into experimental' - The Evening Herald
'Plymouth 4 piece ’Scientist The Orange Pip’ have come along way since they first started out, under the name ‘Kiss And Tell’ and it has definitely been time well spent. The band have definitely honed their sound and this new single titled ‘Deplore The Door’ is a stunning example of what the band are about. First track ‘Absence is bliss’ is catchy as hell, with its interesting melody’s and harmonies mixed in with even more interesting rhythmic breaks, it darts around the headphones. I dare anyone to try and listen to this song without being left with a smile on their face.
Next up is ‘La Foret De Serve’ which starts off with a call and response type idea, bouncing from ear to ear, before coming in with the catchy and super-happy verse. The band experiment with each separate section of the song, going from rhythmic breaks to, simple but affective rock sections, then back into melodically beautiful verses, before going into a punky middle8. The song is extremely well crafted, and definitely one that will have you singing along to the ‘Give Me Time In Your Life’ section.
Scientist The Orange Pip are definitely not a band to be written off as just another indie band, or however you want to categorise them. Their songs are beautifully crafted and extremely catchy. Make sure you check these guys out. They’re not one to be missed!' - Hometown Sounds
'...Scientist The Orange Pip kicked the gig off in fine style and did a great job of warming up the crowd with their psychedelic rocky tunes and pumped up, almost arthouse, rhythms...' The Evening Herald
'...the slick sound and 'catchier-than-herpes' melodies...' - Found Objective

The release of their new album tops off a whirlwind year of touring, the infamy surrounding their charged live perfomances steadily mounting. "Fusing the driving stomps of classic sixties soul with the muddy yet crunchy guitars and puerile words of garage rock, King Khan & The Shrines are one of those uncommon groups who seem to live in the past and still make an attention-grabbing noise. The Supreme Genius is a retrospective of their work this century from initial 45s through to the cleaner more sophisticated efforts of their last proper album, What Is?!. Soul is certainly a key ingredient in the Shrine's psychedelic stew, though purists would balk at describing the end product as one of their own ('filthy racket' being the likely response). Fans of the 'rock 'n' soul' pedigree stretching from the Kingsmen to The Make Up and The Black Lips, however, should be more accepting, as will anyone who likes their music loud and raucous" BBC Music

Times New Viking "Rambunctious to new standards of blessed impenetrability, Ohio trio Times New Viking’s simple-on-paper M.O. is to take the sweetest of super-sweet pop music, indiefied though it is, and strip it of its outer layers of glitz and gloss. The result is music that crackles and fuzzes, screams and roars; it’s an X-Factor audition in a spin-dryer, potential sing-alongs rendered riotously raw through purposeful deconstruction."
