Heroes
All the unsung heroes who produced the music we dance to now. All those artists who died penniless without knowing the joy they still bring to people.
About me: NEWSFLASH!! SATURDAY'S CLUB HAS BEEN CANCELLED. APOLOGIES TO ANYONE WHO WAS PLANNING ON MAKING THE TRIP. THIS IS OUT OF OUR HANDS AND DOWN TO THE MANAGEMENT OF THE VENUE. THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR THEIR SUPPORT AND HOPE TO SEE YOU ALL SOMEWHERE MORE CONGENIAL SOON!
Raise Your Hand time again folks. On the 12th we welcome Ace Records superbly talented DJ Dean Rudland, Scorched blues squire Ian Grinham, Sweden’s ‘hard as nails’ export Macke, and the man who put the ‘mod’ in ‘mod jazz’, Mister Mark Ellis.
Raise Your Hand is back back back! Now an allnighter and focusing on r’n’b and jazz/boogaloo, new resident DJ is the cat who can, Southern Sam. Guests for the first nights’ soirée are Mark Raison with his Shake!ing stompers, Jazzman Records and Jukebox Jam goodfella Liam Large, German “hardmod” Rob H, and from Antwerp’s primest R’n’B club comes Riverside Rule!
SAT OCT 27th THE LEGENDARY DUKE VIN (AKA ' The Tickler') started his career as a selector back in the early 1950's for 'Tom The Great Sebastian' arguably the first champion soundsystem in Jamaica playing Rhythm and Blues. He inspired the likes of Coxonne Dodd and Prince Buster to build their own soundsystems and both men have testified to this in the past.
EVERY SATURDAY COAST TO COAST @ ON THE ROCKS
On SAT OCT 27th DJ CELLO and guest THE LEGENDARY DUKE VIN spin the sounds all night at Coast to Coast.
Coast to Coast is now EVERY SATURDAY due to your good support and has now been running as a night at On The Rocks for over 5 years now. It's become one of the best and most popular club nights in the underground music scene and is starting to make some small headlines with the media, which is indicative of the progress that Coast to Coast has made as a club and Cello as a respected DJ.
So remember, Coast to Coast is Saturdays of every two weeks @ On the Rocks , to get you out of the rainy weather into the sunny land of rhythm! and we look forward to playing you some great grooves to dance to.
As always the music policy will be Only The Best Vinyl from the 60's and 70's, from Black America to Jamaica. Expect massive doses of Ska, Soul, Funk, Northern, Motown, Reggae, Rocksteady & Boogaloo.
Hi Guys,Yep do I know Kerry?it would be over 20 years now! He use to follow me around LoL! It's OK we don't need him back, I think he's back for a flying 2 week visit early next year & that will be enough! I have some more 'vintage' pics posted today! Cheers Elliott
