Sounds Like
"Imagine a slew of unlikely candidates like Clutch, Neurosis, and Alice in Chains ganging up in a fistfight against Black Sabbath, Quicksand, and Machine Head. With just the right amount of melody, tempo variation aplenty and some great raspy singing, the songs are really catchy and memorable. And I'd have to say pretty original as well. I'm really surprised that these guys are still without a label, because there's so much potential here."

Formed in 1997, Scorched-Earth Policy is a San Francisco Bay Area band that has always adhered to one simple mantra: leave no stone unturned in the quest to create quality hard music.
Initially honing their first set of songs through live shows, 4-track demos, and a grueling rehearsal schedule, the "Insurrection" EP saw the light of day in early 1998. Positive media response and airplay from select college/independent radio in the U.S. and Europe further inspired the band to keep grinding away and perfect their craft.
The release of their second EP "Tones of Ambivalence XCIX" in 1999 brought rave reviews from the national and international metal press and also attracted the attention of Grammy-award winning producer Neil Kernon (Judas Priest, Queensryche, Nevermore).
After tirelessly promoting that disc and playing countless live shows in Northern California, it was time to let loose a new barrage of tunes on the public. Entering Trident Studios in March of 2000 with veteran engineer Thilo Fehlinger (Skinlab, 40 Grit) once again behind the controls, the band proceeded to rip out "Bootcamp Demo 2000". Kernon was enlisted to mix a few of the tracks and the cycle of worldwide acclaim repeated itself. The band received the best response of its career thus far with reviews from such magazines as Metal Maniacs and Illliterature (U.S.), Kerrang and Terrorizor (England), RockHard (Germany), Unrestrained (Canada) and respected worldwide webpages Aversion.com, KNAC.com, Metal-Rules.com, MetalJudgment.com and Pimp Rock Palace among others. RockHard magazine also included the band on its "Best Unsigned Bands of 2000" compilation CD.
In 2001, S.E.P. agreed to release the "Tones of Ambivalence XCIX" and "Bootcamp Demo 2000" recordings on one CD through England's Rage of Achilles Records, bringing their dense and crushing sound to a wider audience.
Between numerous California gigs (including support of national acts like Prong, Strapping Young Lad, Superjoint Ritual, Eyes of Fire, Sabians, Skinlab, etc...), the band laid the tracks for their next release. With longtime engineer Fehlinger at their side, S.E.P. opted to do most of the recording with their own machinery and space. "Salvage Nothing - 2002 Demo" was the result. More critical acclaim and sweaty gigs ensued.
The band spent the last year beating a new batch of tunes into submission and recording again with Thilo Fehlinger in their own studio. As with all S.E.P. writing/recording cycles, the focus was on elevating the songwriting a few more notches and creating a new set of songs that kick major ass from beginning to end. The 2006 release "MMVI" exceeds these criteria on all counts and a blistering new live show is now being whipped into shape.
Enjoy the full-length songs here, order a copy of "MMVI" and stay tuned for live shows in Fall '06.
