i love the visual arts...especially painting of all kinds, paper sculpture and mosaic. i also love cooking. i'm basically an introvert, and although i love company, and the energy of a crowd, i recharge best in solitude, and being by the ocean always makes me feel better.
Music
right now, the most important music in my life is my own. i've heard everyone else's all my life. mine is exactly perfect for my taste.
Movies
i've watched too many movies in my lifetime. i'm slightly over saturated. at the moment, i prefer documentaries to drama. i work on motion pictures and know too much about movie business culture to be innocently entertained by them ever again. hollywood devices make me want to either run out of the room in despair, or they make me want to laugh (even if something terrible just happened on screen).
Television
i love the daily show with john stewart. i also love bill mahr's show. i enjoy a number of cooking shows, the discovery channel, and the history channel. pbs here insouthern california has some terrific prigramming.
Books
i haven't read much fiction in the last 20 years. i wind up reading a lot of manuals because of new gear brought into my studio or onto various jobs.
Heroes
michael moore is a modern day hero. i also greatly admire arriana huffington and the reverend jessie jackson.
About me:
I studied violin and composition at East Los Angeles College, Immaculate Heart College Conservatory, and privately with Mary Ann Ringold and master teacher Noumi Fischer. I have over thirty years of professional experience and am currently a professional violinist in the Los Angeles area, as well as a composer/arranger and teacher. My violin solos can be heard in the recordings of “Bongo Logic” (Rycodisk, Rhythm Safari, and Montuno Records) as well as in the motion picture soundtracks to “Envy”, “Rushmore”, “Rocky and Bullwinkle”, and “Welcome To Collinwood”. My playing has been featured in many television programs and commercials, including: “The Mind of the Married Man”, “Resurrection Blvd.”, and MTV’s “The Osborne’s”.
Who I'd like to meet: i feel bad that i never got to meet sarah vaughn. i worked for mel torme, carmen macrae, nancy wilson, and a bunch of others from her generation, but she was the one i loved. her death was a shock.
