The samples were loaded up, chopped into manageable blocks and rearranged to the artist's preference. The drums came gradually into place. First the snare anchored the upbeat. Ass-shaking completed its cycle on pounding kick and bass which shook priceless heirlooms off the mantelpiece. The hi-hats skittered around the pulse, as cascading synthesizers dipped their toes in the beat-water. The whole creation was spit-shined with EQ sandpaper, compressor polish, and reverb rags. Then the hotness dropped.
