Currently accompanying a modern indie cover band called The Naughties as well as playing bass on occasion for local artist Steve Fulton who is working on an upcoming album project.
Occasionally I record other bands (if I love the material) and sometimes I mess around and will record something of mine, but there are other things in life more important (like family) to me right now, but I will posting some new stuff over here during the next few months. If you are a local band needing some direction or recording services, feel free to reach out to me.
Id love to help with your next album project (bass). My rates are very reasonable too! I do sessions a few times a month either here in Boise, SLC, or via internet (ftp or Pando). For more info, and full discography click here.
Influences
There was a lot of music at home growing up, just me and my Mom.
A lot of the singer songwriters of the time like James Taylor, Carol King, Carly Simon, Cat Stevens, Linda Ronstadt, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Kenny Loggins, etc. Then a lot of classic rock (or I guess it was just rock at the time) Stones, Rod Stewert, Beatles, Zeppelin, Bowie, Fleetwood Mac, etc.
When I got a bit older and the 80s came I was really into Squeeze, Elvis Costello, Pretenders, Clash, The Smiths, Echo and the Bunnymen, Love and Rockets, Joy Division, Depeche Mode, New Order and my favorite of all time THE CURE.
It was pretty much these bands which generated my interest in playing music, so I basically learned how to play, just playing along with those albums. When I grew bored of the bass parts of this stuff I mostly turned to R&B/Funk of the 60s/70s,Parliament, J. Brown, Motown, Earth, Wind & Fire, Bros. Johnson, The Meters and my favorites, Sly and the Family stone.
Of recent years, Ive been into stuff like Brendan Benson, Ryan Adams, Aqualung, Keene, Oasis, Wilco, Groove Armada, and pretty much all the old stuff Ive always listened to.
In the car, I only listen to AM talk radio for the most part, but sometimes the oldies station.

To make a long story longer... Born in Lihue, Kaui, Hawaii. Raised by hippies in Santa Barbara, CA. Grew up surfing and playing bass in many bands. One of them ended up doing pretty well. It was called Dishwalla.
Dishwalla signed with A&M Records in 1994, our first album "Pet Your Friends" came out the following year and did nothing for about a year till a song called "Counting Blue Cars" was released and became 1 at Alternative, Rock, AAA, Hot AC, and made into the top 10 of the Top 40 charts. The term "crossover artist" became the new catch phrase, and modern rock radio has never been the same since. Haha! (Its partially true). We were definitely one of the first bands to start at alternative and work all the way to pop.
Dishwalla continued to grow its base touring the world with the likes of Cheryl Crow, Goo Goo Dolls, Tonic, Beter Than Ezra, Jewell, Blind Melon, Gin Blossoms, Refreshments, Styx, Stabbing Westward, The Verve Pipe, and many, many others.
By 97 the band had received a Billboard award for "Rock Track of the Year" (against Metallica, No Doubt, Everclear and Spacehog) and was also awarded ASCAPs "Rock Song of the Year" for both 96 and 97.
Dishwalla recorded 3 more studio (and 1 live) albums and continued to tour the world for its fans for over 10 years. It was an awesome ride, but I needed to move on. (Ok, the wife and kids needed me to move on). :)
Just wanted to drop by and let you know that a new Christmas single "Dance of The Sugar Plum Fairy" is now up on my profile for a limited time. Come check out my take on this all-time Christmas classic...
Just droppin' by to wish you and your beautiful family a safe and Happy Halloween!
BTW, long time, no chat, so I hope everything's going well for you and your family out there in Idaho. I hope one of these days, I'll get to see a Dishwalla show! I miss you guys!
