Scott Bartenhagen is a singer-songwriter from Lathrop, California. His music blends healthy parts of both folk and indie rock to just the right amount of pop and accessibility. Equal parts M. Ward and Andrew Bird to John Mayer and Joanna Newsom. Titles aside, his music is more than anything, melodic.
Scott's first full length CD, Ten Songs Ten Men, was released in September, 2009. Spanning 19 tracks, Ten Songs demonstrates both a penchant for melodicism and storytelling, but also Scott's keen guitar work. Scott will be promoting his music and new CD in the coming months throughout various venues along the west coast.
Though relatively new to the scene on his own, Scott is no stranger to the stage, having played professionally since the age of 15. He has toured all the way to Colorado with his Tejano group, Los Bandidos, played extensively with the group Fairway, and currently eeks out a living playing jazz guitar throughout the valley. With his solo work, Scott has played dozens of times including with grammy nominated group the Duhks. He has earned the opportunity to perform live sets on various radio stations including the valley's popular B93.1. His intimate yet electric live shows are developing quite the following throughout the central valley. He is also currently nominated for a MAMA award for best unplugged.
More than anything, Scott just wants to play. His CD Ten Songs Ten Men is currently available for purchase and Scott is most certainly available for booking. He can be contacted by email at Giantfellow@gmail.com or via Myspace.com/ScottBartenhagen.
If you want a great show drop him a line, just don't ask him if he plays basketball.
So I just wanted to tell you that should you ever have a show in the LA/OC area to let me know. You know you are perfectly welcome to come crash with me!
And sorry I missed you at the barbecue, I didn't realize we were going home until that day and since my sisters were in town I needed to see them. But its cool, because if you ever come out here I will see you then.
No car yet... it's killing me. Sharing a car with Taylor is the worst thing EVER. he's super mighty stingy with it. then tries to get me to pay for gas. =/
Dude, Built to Spill has a new album coming out on October 6th, I think we need to make an outing out of it, go get the album, get some lunch and lock ourselves by a cd player and listen to it, front to back. Yea?
"And no, Scott does not play basketball. Please don't ask his if he does. He'll kill you. ...." You would not kill me! Hahahahaha! Although I already know you didn't play bball so I wouldn't have asked!
well, it was set in the zombie apocalypse and miriam was there and so were the rest of the family. and it was at ucsc. and your show was interactive. like you had a bunch of people. mainly miriam and tim and randoms from the audience come on stage and perform acrobatics with you while you played. the crowd loved it. then we were all running through campus trying to hide from zombies. and THATS THE WHOLE STORY.
Hey bud, thanks again for throwing me on the bill last night. I had alot of fun. And you were awesome. Next time I play a show in which I have some say in who gets put on the bill, I'll be sending you a message.
