My interest in music began when I got my first toy drumkit when I was 6 years old. I then began getting private drum lessons for a while but to be honest, it bored the pants off me. I just wanted to hits things very hard.
Anyway, I must have been listening to too much Spandau Ballet or stuff like that cos I turned my attention to the flute for a while, but that didn't last either. Then I went to high school and desperately wanted to play the trumpet, but they told me my front teeth were too big (b***ards), and they made me do the trombone instead. I actualy lasted 2 years on the trombone and got really good at making farting noises with it. lol
Then the day came that changed my musical direction forever.
My friend Neil Bain gave me a cassette with Iron Maiden's Live After Death on it. He only gave me it cos Bruce Dickinson says "F**k" a couple of times.
That was enough for me and my love for all things heavy metal was born.
Anyway, the trombone subsequently got sold pretty soon after that and my attention turned back to drums.
I then joined a band called Hardware, which we renamed to Fear, which we renamed to The Unlawful, or "The goddam bl00dy awful" as we were affectionately known as.
We recorded a demo and even got it played on Radio Clyde ha ha.
The band split up soon after.
It was then I decided to ditch the drums and play guitar. I got a Tanglewood Strat for my 18th birthday and I have been playing ever since.
A few years later I had the confidence to join a band in Preston, Lancashire ( I had moved down from Scotland a year or two earlier).
Anyway, I joined Protocol and loved it. It was really heavy stuff and the drummer was excellent, but the downfall of that band was the inability to find a singer. We did actually find a really good singer, but he wasn't entirely stable and I heard recently that he topped himself.
Anyway, my missus was heavily pregnant, so I decided to quit the band and work on writing and recording my own material.
I'm still doing it now, but I've re-discovered the itch to get back into a band.
So if you know anyone in the Preston/Chorley/Wigan area that needs a guitarist or drummer, then let me know.
Take Care and rock on
Scott
""We are Friends
I got your back
You got mine,
I'll help you out
Anytime!
To see you hurt
To see you cry
Makes me weep
And wanna die
And if you agree
To never fight
It wouldn't matter
Whos wrong or right
If a broken heart
Needs a mend
I'll be right there
Till the end
If your cheeks are wet
From drops of tears
Don't worry
Let go of your fears
Hand in hand
Love is sent,
We'll be friends
Till the end!!!!
