Over the past twenty-five years, Scott brown has played with some of the biggest names in jazz, R&B and pop music. He began his career in 1984, jamming with the legendary bassist, Jaco Pastorius. By 1985, Scott was a member of Jaco's band. He was 17 years old.
Since then, Scott has recorded and performed with, Jennifer Lopez, Luther Vandross, Patti Austin, Michael Brecker, Roy Ayers, Alex Bugnon, Ashford and Simpson, Freddy Jackson, Melisa Morgan and Special EFX, among others. He was also the musical director for Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam and R&B star, Joe.
Flavors, is Scott's second album as a leader and composer. As the title would suggest, there are a variety of styles and influences on the record. Scott is joined by a dynamic group of players including: Charnette Moffett, Gene Lake, Grant Green Jr., Mark Bowers, Norbert Marius, Rich Wendel, Amit Shamir, DJ Gravy and Paulette McWilliams.
There's a flavor for everyone! There's funky grooves, straight ahead jazz, latin jazz, hip-hop, smooth-jazz and R&B all strung together with soul, musiciality and taste.
Scott continues to push the envelope as a leader and carry on the tradition of his mentor, Jaco. He's always looking forward while staying true to his past.
