Since his debut at New York’s Carnegie Hall in 1998, Scott Morris has been actively performing throughout the United States, Europe and Asia. He has been a featured artist at many major festivals including Isherlohn (Germany), Beijing Guitar Festival (China), Boston Guitar Fest, and La Guitarra. As an educator, he serves at the Coordinator of Guitar Studies at Cal State Dominguez Hills in Los Angeles and is currently an Artist in Residence at the Beijing Central Conservatory in China.
Dr. Morris holds degrees and diplomas from Yale University, USC, the Mozarteum, Musician’s Institute (GIT) and CGU and has studied with William Kanengiser, Scott Tennant, Ben Verdery, Sharon Isbin, Pepe Romero, Jack Sanders and John Dearman. Scott was the director for the 2007 GFA convention in Los Angeles at CSU Dominguez Hills and is currently artistic director for the Dominguez Hills Guitar Festival and Competition. He has recorded numerous CDs for Eroica Classical and Centaur Records. 20th Century Guitar Magazine called his latest cd a “classical guitar masterpiece.” American Record Guide wrote that "Morris plays with considerable elagance and charm".
Scott is a founding member of the YMT Guitar Trio along with Jeff Young (formerly of Megadeth) and Steven Thachuk. They will begin their first European tour at England's Bath Festival this July and make their US debut in Los Angeles on September 5, 2009. He has also worked with artists as diverse as Steve Perry (formerly of Journey) and Martin Chalifour (Concertmaster of the LA Philharmonic)
