About me:
Originally from Dacula, Ga. I moved to Nashville in 1984. Went to Belmont College (now University) from '84-'87. Got my first full time gig working for RCA as a mail clerk. While doing that I also worked nights and weekends at Music City Music Hall. This was one of Owen Bradley's studios which was REALLY cool 'cuz I got to hang out with him and pick his brain on the music industry. During this time I was also lucky enough to work with people like Keith Whitley, Charley Pride, and a bunch of other REALLY great artists, if only as a second engineer (i.e. "fly on the wall"). After RCA I went to work as a go-fer at Masterfonics. Another job that allowed me to work around some of the greatest artists, engineers and producers in Nashville (in addition to working with incredible bosses like Glen Meadows and Charles Tharp). Chris Oglesby asked me one day if I wanted to go to work for Almo Irving (i.e., Rondor Music). Did NOT have a clue as to what publishing was all about. That's when I stumbled into one of the best jobs in the world. Since then I've been SO blessed to work with some of the greatest songwriters in the world. It's also allowed me to travel to incredible places like L.A., New York, Paris, Stockholm, London & Dublin. I can't EVEN begin to explain or say how lucky I feel to have been given this oportunity (now 15 years later!). Chris Oglesby and Craig Wiseman played SUCH a major roll in helping me once I started out at Almo Irving. After that David Conrad tried to teach me HOW to be a good publisher. Some of the writers that I've been fortunate enough to work around and to learn from are Paul Kennerley (MANY Emmylou Harris and Judds hits), Will Jennings -"Please Remember Me" (Tim McGraw) & "My Heart Will Go On" (Celine Dion), Kent Robbins- "Love Is Alive" (Judds) , Mike Reid-"I Can't Make Me Love You" (Bonnie Raitt), Craig Wiseman-"Live Like You Were Dying" (Tim McGraw), Annie Roboff-"This Kiss" (Faith Hill), Anthony Smith "Run"(George Strait), Steve Robson-"What Hurts The Most" (Rascal Flatts) , Wayne Hector-"Feels Like Today" (Rascal Flatts) and Darrell Brown "You'll Think Of Me" (Keith Urban), Tony Mullins-"Me And My Gang" (Rascal Flatts) & Byron Hill "Nothing On But The Radio" (Gary Allan). All this is before the Universal/Rondor merger. Since then, it's been a whole bunch of other great writers (check out umpgnashville.com to see those guys). That's all folks, S ..
