About me:
Who I'd like to meet:
Introduction & Brief History:

SCOUT BANANA began in 2001 as an Eagle Leadership Service Project with the goal of “collecting and delivering medical supplies, including an ambulance for the St. Ambrose health center in Uganda.” The initial project successfully collected 20 boxes of medical supplies and raised over $67,000. In 2003, SCOUT BANANA became more than a Boy Scout Eagle Project when Phase II was launched to raise funds for a 40ft. container of donated medical supplies to completely outfit the St. Ambrose Health Center of Uganda. The organization expanded in the summer of 2005 with student chapters beginning across the U.S. and Canada.

SCOUT BANANA is a nonprofit organization, run by young people, dedicated to raising awareness about the lack of basic health care in Africa and providing support to projects and organizations working in communities to effectively reach people in need.

Mission:

To combine efforts to save lives. SCOUT BANANA will build a domestic and international movement dedicated to fundamental social change in which global health is everyone’s responsibility and every individual’s human right.

Proposition:

The crisis of access to basic healthcare in Africa is dire. Millions of people go day-to-day without the basic necessities to live. Clean water, food, medicine, health – everyone should have to access to what they need to live happily and healthily in the world. SCOUT BANANA recognizes this crisis and understands the fact that whether you live in Africa or America, everyone is affected and linked by the global health crisis. The great passion of youth in the Western world will be our greatest inspiration. This organization will work to be a resource for students and youth who want to make a difference in the world by supporting their projects, programs they identify, or organizations they know. Individuals with a cause will be our greatest allies in creating a positive solution for the global health crisis. This organization believes that everyone has the potential to make a difference in the world. Along with that idea accompanies the belief that the challenge of providing access to basic healthcare is not overwhelming when efforts are combined.
