DOG-LOSOPHY = the bark, the bite, the philosophy
CAT-ITUDE = the meow, the hiss, the attitude

SCOUTDOG STUDIOS
= Designs products and original artwork that celebrate the Dog-losophy and Cat-itude in you and your pet, and works to inspire and advocate the ethical treatment of all animals. A Denver-based product design and manufacturing company, ScoutDog Studios creates and produces canine and feline inspired artwork, greeting cards, jewelry, home décor and other products.

ScoutDog Studios was first created as a freelance website and print design company. In the Spring of 2003, while trying to sell their home, a realtor saw a painting of Scout and asked Jen Griggs Sebastian if she would paint her dog. More commissions started flowing in and Sebastian entered her first art fair in June 2003. Next she started to display art and products in local pet stores, doggy daycares, gift boutiques and art galleries. Now everyday is devoted to the creation of new products that celebrate dogs and cats.

ScoutDog Studios made its national debut at the National Stationery Show in New York in May 2004. ScoutDog products are now sold wholesale to stores nationwide as well as directly to retail customers on the ScoutDog Studios website. For licensing, sponsorship and promotional opportunities, Jane Putch of Eyebait Licensing represents Sebastian.

Q: What is your inspiration?
A: Scout the Dog, a lumbering, not-too-bright German Shepherd/Rottweiler mix; Izzy the Cat, who may or may not be the feline incarnation of Satan; and a young, anonymous Denver child who took one look at Sebastian's paintings and declared: "Dogs are funny."

Q: Why don't the dogs have eyes?
A: So they don't have to see the pain and horror of this world. Or because the eyes are the windows to the soul and you can't paint the soul. Really … it's because it is funny.

Q: Why does Scout, a female dog, have a boy's name?
A: She's named after Jean Louise "Scout" Finch of "To Kill a Mockingbird."

Q: What are Scout's favorite foods?
A: Cheese (preferably processed yellow American), vanilla ice cream, peanut butter, squirrel.

Q: What's the deal with Izzy?
A: No one's sure. There's just so much evil trapped in that furry little body.

I VOLUNTEER FOR PAWS & the PSPCA

Sep 24 2008 5:44 PM

Hello and Thank you for being my friend!!

On Saturday, October 25, I will participate in the PAWS Mutt Strut, which will bring 1,000 animal lovers and their pets together for a 1.5-mile walk through FDR Park. We will raise badly needed funds for PAWS’ lifesaving programs including adoption outreach, spay/neuter clinics, and low-cost vaccination services. We will also raise awareness of the harsh reality that thousands of healthy and treatable animals are killed in Philadelphia each year, simply because they do not have homes.
The Mutt Strut will offer us a day of companionship and celebration, and will enable PAWS to give countless more animals the chance to experience that companionship and safety for themselves.
Please give whatever you can, and consider joining me on October 25!

Dropping by to say hi--and
kudos to everyone who does their part to make difference.

I know the prison dog programs are saving dogs from "doggie death row"--giving them a deserved second chance.

Really wonderful programs [for people too]--read more at our website:
