About me:
Way broke and with nothing to lose, Toronto telemarketer John Stiles invents a kind of call center performance art inspired by the colourful characters from his youth growing up in rural Nova Scotia.
At first the idea was to shock and woo his cold calls, but then after its improbable success, John takes his invented characters and moments to open mike poetry readings. There his bombastic aural montages punctuated by sounds of sirens, dogs and ski-doo noises become a cause celebre in the Toronto's literary circles and eventually leads to two book deals and many tours around the country.
SCOUTS ARE CANCELLED is a rewarding cinematic portrait of John Stiles - distinct voice, surprising story and his maverick spirit .
