Screamed The Mouth was born one evening in February 2009 when London Electricity (the utilities supplier, not the drum n bass outfit) decided to teach two lazy boys a lesson for not paying their bills.
Without the means to listen to pre-recorded sounds, they were forced to do what they could with a warped acoustic guitar and a rubber band, which was stretched to maximum elasticity between two temporarily redundant kettles.
The result should have been an outpouring of grief at the lack of light and hot food but, instead, occurred a lament about abandon and discovery; the memory of love lost and the anticipation of love yet to be found. And then the rubber band snapped and the power came back on.
No matter.
Now, with defective elastic exchanged for bass, Screamed The Mouth are a bit less twangy but – thankfully – are able to make toast and even ice cubes.
