Parents and my Wife & friends who have stood with me all the years, BIG DADDY! Doug Podell And "MELTDOWN".
My card for work used to say "asshole with a cool job". I've been a radio personality for many years. It's been one big party. What better job in the world than to be in a major market...!? Along with some pretty cool friends at work and at home. Tried to be a rock star but fell short, so what better life than to be a DJ on the Radio. Love going out to see friends and watch live rock n' roll -- not just the BIG acts, but a big lover of local Detroit Rock. We have a great buzz going on here.
The pride of Roseville, Michigan, Screamin Scott Randall was born in Mt. Clemens and reared in Warren. His first radio exposure was his high school job at Hardee’s, often saying “pull around to the next window.” Next up was International Roller Rink (now the Great Skate) and The Rink in Utica, where he did stints as the rinks’ DJ. While this was going on, he was attending classes at Cousino High School in Warren. Cousino High is the home of the school district’s radio station, WPHS. Scott soon found himself honing his skills on WPHS while serving the community by playing Rush and Black Sabbath.
Ohio was up next. He spent a year in the Buckeye State, and then moved on to Indiana, where he spent five years. While in those states, he bounced from rock station to rock station including an oldies station WQTZ in Decature IN, Working with Jeff Sommerville and friend Mark Ozbourne, it was the closest to WKRP as a station and lots of good times, all the while dreaming of his chance to come back home. Scott returned to gig at local clubs such as The Ritz in Roseville and New York, New York in Warren. While working at these clubs, an opportunity presented itself. Program Director Joe Bevelacqua and Steve Black offered Scott the morning show at Z-Rock 102.7. The Screamin Scott Morning Show was born. After 3 and a half years, Scott’s phone rang, and on the other end was Doug Podell, Program Director at WRIF. Doug offered Scott a position at WRIF, and the timing couldn’t have been any better. Almost immediately after Scott left Z-Rock, Ted Nugent started “killing The Bear.” Scott now found himself reaching a personal goal by finally making it to the mighty Riff, where he always dreamed of working.
Scott now hosts the late-night overnight program. As an added bonus, he gets the pleasure of also hosting the Midnight Metal show featuring all sorts of different metal. In addition to his nightly airshift, he also finds himself out on the streets of the Motor City at various Riff concerts and club nights. His liver currently closely resembles a piece of beef jerky, so if you happen to see him out on the streets, please take it easy on him!
