Sounds Like
A mixture of various influences across all styles of music, mainly rock. A unique grain and texture of rock and fucking roll
Unique loud fast and melodic just a few ways to describe the assault of sound produced by Screech. A band created by the coming together of several young Aussie bands from across Queensland. A coming together that has proved itself to be able to create a strong punk rock sound with an enticing modern edge, drawing influence from groups such as Blink 182, Gyroscope, Underoath, Boxcar Racer. With a huge onstage presence and a constant desire to please the crowds Screech are a force to be reckoned with and are definitely bringing quality punk rock into the new millennium.
With its members hailing from areas hardly known for breeding musical genius such as: Charleville, Biloela and Coffs Harbour, the members all shared a passion and desire to make good music. Initially Peter Eckel – Guitar, Scott Eckel – Drums and Lewis Usher – Guitar were performing in a band known as Defused. All the While Lewis was also in another band called Screech, which included current members Luke Nutley – Vocals and Tim Smith – Bass. Lewis felt he was tied between trying to practice with both bands. Feeling this was compromising the future of both bands it was decided (on one drunken night ) to integrate all members and focus all energy on making one strong sounding band bound for success. Once Peter and Scott joined it added the extra force Screech needed to get this band going and enabled the band to get there songs tighter than ever before. Instantaneously all member became a tight unit same motivation to take Screech far. Now with more songs in the bag, the band now known as Screech were ready to take on the world...
Since there onstage debut in November 07 Screech have gained a ever growing fan base and have played with some of Brisbane’s best punk/rock/hardcore bands. They played 2008’s “Make Poverty History” alongside an epic Aussie lineup. With the recent release of their Debut EP “Where Do We Go From Here?” , to rave reviews and an awesome response from there fan base, Screech are continuously growing in popularity and demand and with a tour scheduled in the near future Screech are predicted to be Australia’s next great commodity.
In late 2008 Screech's lead singer Luke Nutley decided to leave the band due to personal reasons, and still remains good friends with everyone in the band. Although this left the remaining members with one question, 'What do we do now?' Screech held auditions for new singers but weren't quite happy with anyone else, that was until they decided to recruit a keys/synth player to join their lineup. The new member Andrew Power was a long time friend of the band and a talented singer/songwriter so it just made sense, now with Peter and Andrew now taking on lead vocals the band are ready to continue where they left off, and finish taking on the world...
Screech are always writing new material, perfecting there sound and putting 110% into every show they play, a band with a desire to work hard to make something successful out of the one thing they love doing.
Snitch 12.06.08 - Review
"Headlining the night was the intriguingly named, Screech, from Brisbane. The band threw themselves into the set with an energetic, fast paced number that had the crowd dancing in no time. Screech managed to combine addictive guitar riffs with pumping drum beats in a pop rock screamo fusion.
Despite a somewhat hyper stage presence they managed to slow down it down, if only for a bit, with their almost ballad like, “Alone is Murder”. This was received enthusiastically by the crowd. For a band that who've only been on the scene a relatively short time Screech put on an dynamic live show with an impressive display of musicianship, catchy lyrics and addictive melodies.
A band with an exciting future and one to watch out for, expect their EP out shortly"
