SCRIPTURE
Heavily influenced by r&b’s smooth sounds, hip-hops infectious rhythms, neo soul’s realness, and jazz’s ability to make sense in and out of time, Scripture has taken all these genres and more to give his gospel music the signature sound that is Scripture.
Born in Dover, Delaware but raised in a military family, Scripture has been blessed with the opportunity to experience and explore different cultures and music. Raised in the church Scripture was destined to be a gospel artist, but didn’t accept his calling until he was seventeen. College is where Scripture truly honed in on his performance abilities. He landed a full ride off of his voice alone. He was a part of both the Show Choir and The Madrigals, which are both traveling groups and gave him the chance to travel to France and win the hearts of his French audience. Scripture also had the opportunity to perform in many different musicals and plays while in college: “A Chorus Line”, “Into The Woods”, “Roshamon”, “Bus Stop”, etc.
After college Scripture worked on and released his first album entitled “The Journal.” Since Scriptures debut has released, the doors are opening even wider. He opened for gospel recording artist Joe Pace in September 2007 and landed a 7 city tour with the New Era of Theos.
Recently Scripture recorded the up and coming gospel artist LaTanya Henry and produced 4 tracks on her new album entitled “Selah.” Scripture is now wrapping up his sophomore album entitled “Focused” which releases in 2009 and his first single “Show Em,” is receiving radio play on Jammin 99.5 FM in Baltimore, Washington, Alabama, and other cities.
