| About The Scythe Divine |
In early 2003, a group of friends in south New Jersey got together to form a metal band in their spare time. Nothing special, just a band to have a little fun. They wrote a few songs together and hit the studios, returning a few decent tracks that they got played on the local radio station. However by the end of the year, tensions between the lead guitarist Takashi, and vocalist Blaine, caused Blaine to leave the band. They found a replacment in Tony, a kid who had only recently moved to the state. With their new vocalist, the band continued to write songs and play live shows. They released a two song single in mid 2004 called Unclean featuring covers of the songs Master of Puppets and The Immigrant Song
Soon after the release of Unclean, Guitarist Takashi left the band. He moved to South Carolina. The search for a replacement brought a excellent guitarist named Brandon. After welcoming Brandon to the band, they got to work on their first EP entitled Angels from Hell. It was a 5 song EP mostly featuring covers and live recordings, which they recorded throughout 2005. 2005 also brought the temporary leave of keyboardist Caleb. He would return in 2007. In his absence, the band took a thrash approach to their music, which was evident on their 2006 EP, Hunger.
After the release of Hunger, the band started working on their next EP, The Birth of the Demon. During the process of song writing and recording however, many conflicts arose over the direction the music was heading. Many members did not like the thrash approach that their music was now taking. So the project was cancelled and the band was put on hiatus. That was until keyboardist Caleb returned in early 2007. With one of their most inventive minds back in the band, they came out of hiatus, and started work on the Censured EP. The 5 song EP was recorded in a professional studio in New York City.
In late 2007, the band released its first album entitled Reaping The Harvest. The 8 song album is avaliable via the band members.
