"The [San Diego Filmmakers] event featuring film composers... was one of the best and most productive and informative filmmaking seminars I have attended in a long time. Although I am a professional musician and am the son of a filmmaker and composer, their approaches to the question of music in film was most enlightening and gave me perspective that I had never considered before." -Ivars Bezdechi
San Diego Filmmakers provides a platform for local independent filmmakers, dedicated to the art and business of filmmaking in San Diego, to network and to share ideas and resources.
We convene the second Tuesday of each month to meet like minded people, learn new things and gain continued inspiration from guest speakers.
Was there someone you wanted to network with at our last event but they got lost in the crowd?
Need actors or a crew for your next film?
Are you available to work on a film?

People come into your life for a REASON, a SEASON or a LIFETIME. When you know which one it is, you will know what to do for that person. When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away. Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on. Some people come into your life for a SEASON, because your turn has come to share, grow or learn. They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh. They may teach you something you have never done. They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy. Believe it, it is real.

We're wondering if anyone knows, or can steer us in the direction, of a place we can hold auditions at in a couple of weeks here in San Diego?
We're on a minimal budget, so we would like to get something as cheaply as possible, that way we can save our money for the production itself.
We're looking to do it on a weekend day, Saturday or Sunday. We will be auditioning for 5 prominent roles in a short film, ages 7 thru 13. If you know of any non-union talent that is up for the challenge (no previous acting experience is required), you can direct them our way too.
And we'll also be seeking some crew soon as well, so contact us here on MySpace too if you like.

The Immobilite website launched this morning. Please check it out and have fun exploring the REMIXES Audio in the EXTRAS section and the DIRECTOR'S NOTEBOOK sections. I think it came out great. The premier of the film is in a few days in New York city. I know most of you can't make it to this. But, the website offers an additional way to experience the work. Enjoy!
I am coming to you today to tell you about my new website Flash Your Shorts. The site was designed to give filmmakers like you a venue to showcase/promote your work.
Many of you have films uploaded to YouTube, MySpace, FaceBook, Google Video, Vimeo, ect... And you all face the same obstacles of trying to get people to watch what they spent days, weeks months, and even years making. It was with that notion that I wanted to do something to give back to the community that, in essence, raised me from a person who had always wanted to make movies, to a person who now has had the privilege of working on several shorts films, and even a couple feature length films. That very reason is what drove me to create Flash Your Shorts, so that others could have the opportunity to get the chance to be seen.
For more information on how you can submit your short films to be posted on the site, all the information is available on http://www. FlashYourShorts. com.

Participants in the photoshoot will also be able to keep their costumes and receive one finished film trailer poster, after completion of the photoshoot project and signing of all legal documents. A talent release form must be filled out and signed before any participant can proceed with our project. The photoshoot will be for a commerical print. Therefore, it will me turned into 8.5x11", 18x24", and/or 27x39" offset movie trailer posters. And it will be used for promoting and advertising the Pacifica novel and the short movie trailer in the Fall of 2009. There was once a young man who, in his youth, professed his desire to become a great writer.
When asked to define "great" he said, "I want to write stuff that the whole world will read, stuff that people will react to on a truly emotional level, stuff that will make them scream, cry, howl in pain and anger!"
He now works for Microsoft, writing error messages...
