In the latest installment of The Weekly Tapout's quest to find out why mixed martial artists pick particular songs to make their arena entrance, I asked UFC welterweight champion Matt Hughes about his theme, the Hank Williams Jr. classic A Country Boy Can Survive.
"This has been one of my favorite songs forever," said Hughes. "When I first came to the UFC and wanted to use it, they wouldn't let me. They said it was too slow for UFC. So for a while I came out to that song American Badass, (by Kid Rock) which isn't bad, but it's not really me. I listen to country."
"Then it became obvious that I was going to hold the belt for a good long time and I wasn't going away, so I went back and I told them this is my song and it's what I'm coming out to. Country Boy Can Survive is what I'm all about. "When the lights go down and A Country Boy Can Survive plays, everyone in the arena knows that Matt Hughes is about to make his entrance."
S.D.S. Custom Fighter Entry Music is about creating, editing, and mixing music for fighters to enter the ring or cage to.
Whether it be boxing, kickboxing, mixed martial arts, Pro Wrestling, or any combat sport, we can produce a theme that gets the crowd hyped or says something about you, the fighter.
Your favorite song can be edited to remove the B.S. and get right down to what it is you want to say or need to hear before you step out into battle. Chop out the lyrics and stick with the chorus... that usually says it all, but not always! Mix it, fade it, loop it, or chop it. Tell us what parts you just have to have in the song and we'll do our best to make it happen!!!
Or, let us choose between a few songs, remix them, and you pick the one that suits you best.
None of the remixed themes are soley for particular fighters. Any theme is offered to any fighter. Unless that fighter chooses to deam that specific theme thiers. In this case the theme will not be offered to other fighters. Talks will insue for these purposes!
We do not charge for remixing fight themes...(YET). If you decide you want that theme strickly as "yours", then we'll talk!
All we ask is for $5 for the cd, or just send me a blank one, whatever shipping may cost, and "Props". Our name and a link on your website, a shout out before and/or after you win your fight, and a team or fighter's shirt. That's all!!! When the mix is finished I'll send you the cd or email it to you and you can download it and burn it yourself.
Here are some samples of entry themes that we have mixed so far. All demos are actual entry mixes made for these fighters. All fighters have authorized the use of thier pics with the specific demo of the song mixed for thier entry into the ring or cage.
Some start from the begining and some further into the song to show editing, yet "all" show editing.
They are 30-60 second bits of an entire 90-120+ second clip. If you don't know the song you may not notice the mixed or clipped version. I encourage you to compare it to the original song.
