You may also want to give this one a try. While it may be somewhat open ended, you still have to follow a pretty linear storyline. All your basically doing is choosing whether or not you'll be a good or bad character towards the end of the game.

Sadly, I still have yet to play FFIV. It sells for ungodly amounts of cash nowadays. BTW, don't take offense to me deleting your comments. I tend to pick the best one out of a bunch that are sent to me so that no one comments twice in a row. Why do I do this? Because I don't want any comment happy bastard to cover my entire page with just his comments, and if I choose to delete the psychos comments, then the rule must apply to all others. I got a bit of a perfection problem heh...
Chrono Trigger is probably the best RPG I've ever played. May want to look up a few things to get the best ending though. Of course, you can replay it when you beat it with all of your items and experience from the previous game.
