I have so many influences. This list is in no particular order and is certainly incomplete. Here goes!
The Beatles, David Bowie, Bob Dylan, The Who, The Cars, Steely Dan, Grandpa Arington, Dad, all my uncles and my aunts, Perry Lambert, Michael Eudy, Patrick Ferguson, Five-Eight, Frank Sinatra, Bessie Smith, Cab Calloway, U2, Paul McCartney, John Lennon, The Mayhaws, AC/DC, The Kinks, Led Zeppelin, Beethoven, Mozart, Buddy Holly, Elvis Presley, Elvis Costello, Jackson Five, Smokey Robinson, Radiohead, Coldplay,...
to be continued, k?
Sounds Like
This is a tough subject for me, because to me, I sound like myself. However, some have variously suggested I sound like the following, incomplete list of artists...
Nick Drake, Collin Hay, Paul McCartney, Ethyl Merman, gravel stirred into honey, Bruce Coburn, Neil Finn,etc...
My dear friend Greg Benson offers the following suggestions for "who Sean rips off."
Daniel Lanois (esp. the "Acadie" and "Wynona" albums), Jack Johnson, Nick Drake (but more succinct), Macca, Tracy Chapman, Greg Brown, Burt Bacharach, and maybe Joan Armitrading (who Kris says is kinda harsh compared to Sean). Okay, now she says think of someone younger: How about John Mayer? Yeah, John Mayer.
More on this later.
Love, GREG
I've been playing and writing music pretty much my whole life. I got the music thing from my family, which is full of singers and musicians. Since I've only been half-ass stabbing at a music career these last few years, hardly anyone has heard of me and I've only sold about a hundred copies of my 2007 CD "Sean". Anyway, I'm sweeping out the cobwebs from my profile today. Say hi if you'd like. You can call me too! 706-254-0666

In the coming year; May you be poor in misfortune, rich in blessings, slow to make enemies, quick to make friends. But rich or poor, quick or slow, may you know nothing but happiness from this day forward.
May you live a long life Full of gladness and health, With a pocket full of gold As the least of you wealth. May the dreams you hold dearest, Be those which come true, The kindness you spread, Keep returning to you.
